Old Honour boards tell a story

I love old honour boards be they gold leaf, gold paint or regular enamels..
Sometimes you go to a golf club like Tullamore and you are signwriting the board in Goldleaf and you look back at the styles of the previous signwriters and they tell a story.. it shows each individuals style, how they flourished a letter, how they layed out the board for longevity, their detail etc. .. Sometimes the Members might say "it's not that good" but you know what , it's always good. It beats computerised lettering any day.. it's got character.. when you look at a board of vinyl letters, the continuity and uniformity of the letters takes away any insight into the person laying down the letters. I prefer to see goodbad signwriting any day and know that I am privileged to be the3rd or 4th generation who has kept this board updated.. Soon my arthritic fingers and dodgy eyes will make way for the next generation.. but hopefully I'll get another 10 years..
